Bumpdate 40 weeks!!

How far along: 40 weeks & 4 days!

Baby Size: Well we have a very healthy baby that is very comfortable where she is at the moment.  After a biophysical profile yesterday the ultrasound tech and our doctor are predicting approximately a 9 pound baby.  I’m not going to lie, I am absolutely terrified of delivering a baby that size.

Maternity Clothes: Yes of course, just trying to stay as comfortable as possible.

Sleep: Sleep….is very painful, rolling over hurts and my hips ache!  I have been switching from bed to glider a couple of times a night in order to stay as comfortable as possible.  Up about 3-4 times during the night…for a trip to the bathroom.

Gender: A sweet little GIRL!

Movement: Yes however she is definitely running out of room, her movements are slower and there isn’t as much kicking.  Mainly stretching and adjusting.

Best moment this week:  We scheduled our induction for Sunday evening, I am ready to meet this baby!

Looking forward to: Her arrival!!

Food cravings: I haven’t really been craving anything specific, still having heartburn on and off so that is a bummer.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not sick but I still cannot stand the smell of garlic.  And a little bit of nauseous on and off.

Labor Signs:  About the same as last week, some cramping and Braxton hicks contractions on and off throughout the week.  No additional progress has been made, we have scheduled our induction for Sunday.  I will go in again on Friday to check on progress but I’m not holding my breath.

What I miss: It changes daily…..lots of stuff.

Symptoms: PREGNANT and ready to meet this little lady!

Nursery:  99% finished, the only thing left to do is to bring her homeJ

Wedding rings on or off: Off and put away for the remainder of the pregnancy.

Mood: Good, very anxious to get the show on the road but I guess we just have to be a little more patient.

With love,
Mrs.G

Baby Size: Baby G likely weighs anywhere between 6.5 – 8.5 pounds and is between 18 – 20 inches long.  Technically baby is ready for the world and could come at any time, seems she is quite comfy at the moment though.  She is the size of a watermelonJ

Maternity Clothes: Yes of course, just trying to stay as comfortable as possible.

Movement: Yes however she is definitely running out of room, her movements are slower and there isn’t as much kicking.  Mainly stretching and adjusting.

Best moment this week:  Mr. G & I had a great weekend, we enjoyed being in Minneapolis for the 4th and were out and about a lot.

Bumpdate - 38 weeks!

How far along: 38 weeks!

Baby Size: Baby G likely weighs anywhere between 6.5 – 8.5 pounds and is between 18 – 20 inches long, I’m not going to change the approximations any longer…we will just have to wait and see how big she is when she arrives.  Baby is ready for the world and could come at any time.  She is about the size of a pumpkin and her head is about the same circumference as her abdomen.

Maternity Clothes: Yes of course, just trying to stay as comfortable as possible.

Sleep: Sleep continues to be difficult as I have a hard time rolling over and get pretty stiff and sore in one position for long.  However, I do feel that the sleep I’m getting is more restful than before.  Still up a couple of times during the night…for a trip to the bathroom.

Gender: A sweet little GIRL!

Movement: Yep…feet in my rib cage and a head and arms/hands bouncing on my bladder.  She is running out of room and her movements slowed down a little this weekend, so today at our 38 week appointment Dr. Jacob hooked me up to the fetal heart monitor to get a lengthy listen.  After 2 nurses couldn’t pick up her heart beat because she was moving so much a 3rd finally got it, it was actually kind of amusing because it was almost as if she was messing with the nurses.  Dr. Jacob was very happy with the 20 minutes of monitoring she got.

Best moment this week:  Spending 20 minutes listening to her heartbeat today, it was comforting and actually relaxed me quite a bit!

Dr. Jacob said everything was about the same again today, guess we just have to be patient.

What I miss: It changes daily…..lots of stuff.

Symptoms: PREGNANT!!  Pretty standard pregnancy symptoms:  puffy feet and fingers, clumsy and bump into things often, very tired, tough to breathe at times, can’t get up by myself and just a general feeling of discomfort.

I think I’ve reached the point where I am ready…ready to get the show on the road and ready to meet her, I can’t wait to see what she looks like and give her a name!!

Nursery:  99% finished, the only thing left to do is to bring her homeJ

Wedding rings on or off: Off and put away for the remainder of the pregnancy.

Mood: Good, a little anxious but good.

With love,

The nursery - part 2!

Once we had everything for the nursery it was time to get to work putting everything together, okay okay...it was time for Mr. G to get to work putting everything together.  My dad came to help put together the crib / changing table combo which was a big help since we had read that it wasn't the easiest thing to do.  They put the crib together in 2 hours, they were trying to beat 2 hours but just couldn't get there.

They also put up her curtain rod and curtains as well as the decal, which was a tedious process but they did a great job!  I couldn't believe how much thought they put into it, they measured to make sure it was even and that it was just right.  It really looks perfect!  Unfortunately none of the pictures turn out when I take a picture of the decal...so no pic on the blog.

Mr. G took care of the glider and footstool as well as the painting of the IKEA spice racks and side table.  Mr. G and his dad put the bookshelves (spice racks) up which was not as easy as pinterest and everyone else makes it sound but they look incredible and worked perfectly in her little room.

My mother and 2 sisters came over to help fold and hang all of her little clothes, she already has a lot of clothing.  They helped put things away and make the most of the small space we have, it was a huge help.

We moved the crib a couple of times and decided on its final spot, it worked out great where we put it as I now have access to the little shelving system it has built in to the changer....bonus!

Everything really came together and when I finally had everything in place I couldn't believe how beautifully and perfectly it came together.  I'm so happy with everything and could not have asked for it to look better.  As I said before, I put a lot of thought into the nursery because I know it will be the last time I am able to make the final choices on her room...knowing myself and her father I know this little gal will have an opinion and let us know it;)

I hope you enjoyed the photos of the nursery...now the last piece of the puzzle...a baby!  We are 10 days from her due date and I am very anxious to meet her!

With love,

Mrs.G

Weekend Review!

With the arrival of Baby G getting closer and closer Mr. G and I are spending some good quality time together as a family of two before becoming a family of three.  We are also required to stay close to home so while our family members are at their respective lake places we are hanging here in Minneapolis.
It has been fun doing some new things and some things we haven't done in a while, this weekend was a great one!

Friday night we were very domestic and took a trip to Target and to the grocery store in order to stock up on some things that we needed.  I am trying to get some of those things crossed off my list so we don't have to run out after Baby G arrives.  Once we got home we made a frozen pizza and relaxed, I was in bed early...shocking.

Saturday morning my wonderful husband got up and made us a yummy breakfast, he made a breakfast pizza and served it with watermelon.

After breakfast we left for the Minneapolis Farmer's Market, I am trying to get out and walk more to help move things along a bit so I thought this was a good way to get some exercise and pick up some yummy fresh veggies.  The first farmers market we went to was so busy and didn't have any of the vegetables on our list so we ventured to the larger farmers market and had some fantastic luck!  We scored red potatoes, red peppers, onions, asparagus, a bouquet of flowers and some sweet corn.  I wanted to take some pictures but it was so crowded that I just left my phone in my pocket.  Bonus...we scored a fantastic parking spot after looking for a while.

Saturday afternoon I enjoyed a nice long nap during a rain storm, it was wonderful!  When we thought the rain was done Mr. G and I went to Lake Harriet for a little ice cream treat, the rain started again and we had to make a dash to the car with our ice cream.  So we ate it in the car...no biggie.
We rented a couple of red box movies Saturday night, so after a delicious stir fry for dinner we settled in to watch The Butler with Forrest Whittaker.  It was great, we thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone.

Sunday morning Mr. G and I went to church at the Lake Harriet Bandshell and then we did something I've never done before...we went to Canterbury Race Track to see the horse races.  I didn't know if I would enjoy it or not but I have to be honest, it was kind of exhilarating to see how fast they moved and the sound of their hooves was really cool.  We aren't much of gamblers so we each bet $2 on each of the races we watched, only 4 races.  Unfortunately we did not win a dime but we had a great time.

Sunday evening we invited our sister in law and nephew over for dinner, we had a low country boil.  I have had it on an outdoor pot but never tried it on the stove but it turned out great.  For those of you who don't know what it is...you boil water with Old Bay seasoning, put in red potatoes & sausage for 10 minutes, add corn for 5 additional minutes and then shrimp for about 4 minutes.  It turned out great and dinner was very good.  We served it with cocktail sauce and a remoulade that Mr. G whipped up.

Another week is upon us and we are within 10 days of Baby G's due date, just crazy!  It is a short week and we are both looking forward to a nice 4th of July weekend, if we don't have a baby yet;)

With love,
Mrs.G
