Bumpdate 27 weeks!

How far along: 27 weeks
last week of the second trimester and
88 days until her due date!

Baby Size: Head to heel Baby G is measuring between 13.6 – 14.8 inches and weighs in between 1.5 to 2.5 pounds.  She is about the size of a rutabaga.  She is sleeping and waking at regular intervals, open and closing her eyes and even sucking her fingers. Any rhythmic movements felt are likely a case of hiccups, which are happening more often.

Maternity Clothes: Yep and loving them!

Sleep: Sleep has been okay this week, rolling over during the night continues to get more difficult and bathroom trips more frequent.

Gender: A sweet little GIRL!

Movement: Oh yes!  She made me a little nervous last Thursday & Friday as she slowed down her movements a bit (might have been because I was a little stressed), but I had nothing to worry about since she has been quite active the last couple of days.

Best moment this week:  Celebrating with my friends at our first baby shower yesterday, it was a wonderful day.  Baby G & I were very spoiled.  Alyssa served yummy food, had beautiful decorations and everyone showered us with kindness and generosity. (As soon as I get the pictures I will write a blog about the shower)

Looking forward to: Continuing work on the nursery and construction to begin (and end) on our living room where we had water damage from an ice dam.

Food cravings: Orange juice, toast with butter and steak…not any red meat, steak!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not sick but I cannot stand the smell of garlic.

Labor Signs: Absolutely not!

What I miss: Nothing much.

Symptoms: This might be TMI…but I am running to the restroom a lot!  She must be squishing my bladder even more these days.  Growing bump, ligament pain, heartburn and a little bit of leg pain if I’m on my feet too much.  Overall I am feeling great and don’t have any major complaints!

Nursery: The new windows go in her room tomorrow, hooray!  With the windows going in we can order her crib and move the armoire into her room, that way this momma can get moving on organizing her stuff.  I cannot wait to see her little clothes hanging in the armoire, I’m so excited!!

Wedding rings on or off: Wedding set is ON!

Mood: Great!

My glucose test is this Friday morning, hoping to get through that with flying colors.  Cheers to the orange sugary drink!

With love,

Mrs. G

Bumpdate 26 weeks!

How far along: 26 weeks!

Sorry about the quality of photos...not the best this week.

Baby Size: Head to heel Baby G is measuring nearly 14 inches and weighs in between 1.5 to 2.2 pounds.  She is about the size of a head of lettuce.  She is inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid which is essential for the development of her lungs.  These so-called breathing movements are good practice for her first breath of air when she is born.  She is growing eye lashes and her immune system is getting ready for the outside world by getting antibodies from me.

Maternity Clothes: Yep and loving them! I’m trying to find some items for spring and summer that will get me through the pregnancy.

Sleep: Sleep has been okay this week, rolling over from my left side to right side is getting a little more difficult.

Gender: A sweet little GIRL!

Movement: Oh yes!  She is continuing to gain strength as well; she put on a little show Sunday for Mr. G & me as she had my tummy dancing around a lot.

Best moment this week:  Getting excited for my first baby shower, Sunday the 13th.  My girlfriends from high school are throwing a shower for Baby G and I’m so excited to celebrate with them and have time to catch up.

What I miss: Not much this week

Symptoms: Growing bump, ligament pain and a little bit of leg pain if I’m on my feet too much.  I had some heartburn Sunday but felt better Monday and today. Overall, I feel great and don’t have any complaints!

Nursery: Still at the same point with the nursery, it is painted but we are on hold until the windows are in and we can order the crib.  This is definitely a source of anxiety for me, I'm ready to get the nursery going.

Wedding rings on or off: Wedding set is ON!

Mood: Great!

Bumpdate 25 weeks!

How far along: 25 weeks!

Baby Size: Head to heel Baby G is measuring about 13 ½ inches and at the perinatal ultrasound on Thursday she weighed in at 1 pound 12 ounces.  She is about the size of a cauliflower.  The baby center app said that she will begin to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat…but after seeing her in the 3D ultrasound…it looks like she is doing just fine;)  She is also beginning to grow more hair and if we could see it we would be able to discern its color and texture.  She has a new sense of equilibrium, knowing which way is up and which way is down.

Maternity Clothes: Yep and loving them! I’m taking a trip to Bellies & Babies sometime this week, it is a consignment store for maternity clothing and baby clothes…hoping to pick up a couple of dresses for some upcoming events.

Sleep: Sleep has been okay this week, with an average of 2 trips to the restroom each night.

Gender: A sweet little GIRL (we are making good progress with her name, although that will remain a secret until her arrival)!

Movement: Oh yes!  She is gaining strength as well; there have been a couple of times when she catches me by surprise with the force of her kicks and rolls.  We are also seeing the movement outside my clothing, very cool to see.

Best moment this week:  We had to see a perinatal specialist because our little lady would not cooperate and allow our normal ultrasound tech to get a picture of her heart. So, our doctor sent us in to the perinatal specialist for a more comprehensive look. We were able to spend close to an hour watching Baby G move around A LOT, kick and put her hands up to her face while the tech took all the necessary pictures and measurements. We came home with some wonderful pictures including three 3D pictures. And we are happy to report that Baby G cooperated and the perinatal specialist said everything looks great and that as long as everything continues as is we should not need further follow up with the specialist and can continue with our normal doctor. We were very happy to hear that!

Looking forward to: Continuing work on the nursery and construction to begin (and end) on our living room where we had water damage from an ice dam.

Food cravings: Orange juice, toast with butter and steak…not any red meat, steak!  My dad made me a steak last night for dinner, YUM!!!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not sick but I cannot stand the smell of garlic.

Labor Signs: Absolutely not!

What I miss: My favorite cheeses…brie & blue cheese especially.

Symptoms: Growing bump, ligament pain and a little bit of leg pain if I’m on my feet too much.  Overall, I feel great and don’t really have any complaints…I’m loving the second trimester (only 4 weeks of it left, wow!).

Nursery: I love making choices for her nursery, this weekend we had it painted and I love how it turned out (2 pics below).  We have also purchased curtains and the curtain rods with cute little pink butterflies on each end.  And I think, we have chosen a gliderJ  We have chosen the crib but are waiting to order it until the windows are done.  I told Mr. G on Saturday that I’m loving the decorating since this is likely the only time I will get to make the choices for her without her voicing her opinion;)

Wedding rings on or off: Wedding set is on but sadly Great Grandma’s ring is off and safely in our safe deposit box for the duration of this pregnancy.  It was just getting too tight and I did not want to risk having it get stuck.

Mood: Great!

With love,

Mrs. G

Bumpdate 24 weeks!

How far along: 24 weeks!

Baby Size: Head to heel Baby G is almost a foot in length and weighed in at 1 pound 6 ounces during the appointment last week.  She is about the size of a cantaloupe.  Her brain will develop quickly now and her taste buds are continuing to develop.  Her lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world.  Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Maternity Clothes: Yep and loving them!

Sleep: Sleep has been okay this week.

Gender: A sweet little GIRL!

Movement: Yes I am feeling Baby G move, it is still easier to feel her when I am sitting or lying down.

Best moment this week:  Seeing our little lady via an ultrasound on Friday, we watched her lips move and her legs kick.  It was wonderful!

Looking forward to: Getting the new windows in the nursery and being able to schedule the painter and order the crib; I am ready to start moving things along in the nursery.

Food cravings: Orange juice, toast with butter and steak…not any red meat, steak!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.

Labor Signs: Absolutely not!

What I miss: My favorite cheeses…brie, blue, etc.

Symptoms: Aside from the growing bump my center of gravity is definitely off a bit.  While putting dishes away yesterday I leaned forward like typical and just about fell on my face, after collecting myself I enjoyed a good laugh.

Nursery: We have chosen a crib and the colors for the nursery; as soon as the new windows are in we will schedule the painting and then order the crib!  Little Miss has so many wonderful things already, she is very blessed….one might even say a little spoiled.

Bumpdate 23 weeks!

How far along: 23 weeks!

Baby Size: Head to heel Baby G is about 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound. She is about the size of a grapefruit. She is more aware of voices and noises from the outside, as well as the sound of my heartbeat and gurgling tummy.  Loud noises that she hears now like the vacuum cleaner will hopefully not bother her once she is here.

Maternity Clothes: Yep and loving them!

Sleep: Sleep has not been great; I wake up often during the night and am awake for anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Gender: A sweet little GIRL!

Movement: Yes I am feeling Baby G move, it is still easier to feel her when I am sitting or lying down.  She has very specific active times, usually about 30 minutes after I eat and around 9:00pm each night.

Best moment this week: Mr. G was able to feel her move one night last week, it was a wonderful moment for both of us.  She put on quite the show for her dad, kicking and wiggling for about 20 minutes.

Looking forward to: Our 24 week appointment this Friday, we will get to see her again as we need better pictures of her face and her heart.  Hopefully the ultrasound tech can get some good pictures that we can bring home with us.

Food cravings: Orange juice, toast with butter and I guess I should add steak...clearly my body is craving iron!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.

Labor Signs: Absolutely not!

What I miss: Nothing much.

Symptoms: The growing bump and ligament pain on the right side of my stomach which I will be asking the doctor about.  My 23 week info says to be prepared for swelling and I'm happy to report that I have not had any swelling as of yet, I attribute it to the amount of water I am drinking each day.  Let's hope this continues.

Nursery: We have chosen a crib and the colors for the nursery, now to arrange the painter and then order the crib! Little Miss has so many wonderful things already, she is very blessed….one might even say a little spoiled.

Wedding rings on or off: On

Mood: My mood has been pretty good this week, a couple moments of emotional prego stuff but nothing too bad.  Here's to hoping week 24 is even better:)

Mrs. G

Bumpdate 22 weeks!

How far along: 22 weeks!

Baby Size: Head to heel Baby G is about 11 inches long and weighs just under a pound.  She is about the size of a papaya.  Her lips, eyelids and eyebrows are becoming more distinct and her eyes have developed however her irises (the colored part of the eye) lack pigment.  She is likely sleeping in cycles, about 12-14 hours a day.

Maternity Clothes: Yep and loving them!

Sleep: Sleep has not been great; I wake up often during the night and am awake from anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Gender: A sweet little GIRL!

Movement: Yes I am feeling Baby G move, it is still easier to feel her when I am sitting or lying down.  I’m sure it won’t be long before her kicks and jabs are felt on the outside, Mr G. is looking forward to being able to feel her.

Best moment this week: Feeling her little kicks, it’s like her way of reminding me she is there.

Looking forward to: Seeing my friend Courtney (this Saturday) and meeting her fiancé for the first time!

Food cravings: Orange juice and toast with butter!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.

Labor Signs: Absolutely not!

What I miss: Nothing much.

Symptoms: The growing bump!

Nursery: We have chosen a crib and the colors for the nursery, now to arrange the painter and then order the crib!  Little Miss has so many wonderful things already, she is very blessed….one might even say a little spoiled.

Bumpdate 21 weeks!

How far along: 21 weeks!

Sorry about the quality of the pics, not great.

Baby Size: Head to heel Baby G is about 10.5 inches long and weighs approximately three quarters of a pound.  She is about the size of a pomegranate.  She has developed eyebrows and eye lids and her digestive system starts to prep for the outside world.  She is manufacturing meconium (I had to explain to Mr. G what it is, yuck.)  Baby G is definitely growing stronger as there are times when I feel like she is a little jumping bean in there.

Maternity Clothes: Yep and loving them!

Sleep: Sleep has been okay, I have learned that my movements need to be slower especially rolling over to my other side and getting out of bed.

Gender: A sweet little GIRL!

Movement: Yes I am feeling Baby G move, she has very specific active times.  Mainly about 30 minutes after I eat something and she seems to like the mornings the best.  Late last week I rolled over to my left side at about 4am and I rolled a little too far, she gave me a good little kick…almost to tell me “hey, you’re squishing me!”  I rolled back just a little and she calmed down.
Mr. G is nervous that she and I are already not getting along;)

Best moment this week: The best moments have to be feeling her kicking and moving around, it really is a crazy feeling.  Mr. G is very anxious to be able to feel her from the outside.  Also, we started putting together a baby registry at Baby’s R Us and Target; we had a good time browsing the baby stuff.

Looking forward to: I am so excited to get started on the nursery, we have decided on a crib and nursery paint colors.

Food cravings: Orange juice and toast with butter!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.

Labor Signs: Absolutely not!

What I miss: Nothing much.

Symptoms: The main thing this week has been ligament pain, if I move too quickly or turn the wrong way it is really painful.  The pain is mainly on the right side and lower region of my stomach.  I've read about it and all my symptoms seem to be pointing to ligament pain (stretching and growing will cause pain), I will confirm with the doctor in a couple of weeks.  Guess it is time to start slowing down.  The "bump" has made an appearance; my younger sister saw me on Tuesday (after attending our gender reveal party on Sunday) and exclaimed, "you look pregnant!"  We had a good laugh but she really meant that in two days the bump had become even more present.

Nursery: We have chosen a crib and the colors for the nursery, now to arrange the painter and then order the crib!  Little Miss has so many wonderful things already, she is very blessed….one might even say a little spoiled.

Bumpdate 20 weeks!

How far along: 20 weeks!

Baby Size: Head to heel Baby G is about 6.5 inches long and weighs approximately 10.5 ounces, at our 20 week ultrasound she weighed in at 13 ounces. Baby G is about the size of a banana. She is swallowing more these days, which is good practice for her digestive system. We were able to see the contents from her stomach empty into her bladder on the ultrasound Friday morning; it was very cool to see her bladder get bigger.

Maternity Clothes: Yep and loving them!

Sleep: Sleep has been okay, I’m getting more comfortable sleeping on my side.

Gender: It is a GIRL! We had an amazing day Sunday, celebrating our baby girl was so much fun!

Movement: Yes I believe I am feeling Baby G move and on Friday at the ultrasound she was moving & stretching and playing with her feet. It was so fun to see and I'm looking forward to feeling her movements become more recognizable as she gets bigger.

Best moment this week: The best moment this week was seeing Baby G during the ultrasound. At one point she stretched her arms & legs out and yawned big; it was a fantastic moment for Andy and me.

Looking forward to: Picking out items for the nursery and starting to talk about names.

Food cravings: Still loving orange juice and really love toast with butter!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.

Labor Signs: Absolutely not!

What I miss: Nothing much.

Symptoms: I’m getting a little clumsier; I’ve noticed that I am a little off balance at times. Increased appetite…snacking is the new normal, little aches and pains (mainly in my hips and rump). The“bump” is making an appearance and goes from rock hard to soft at various times throughout the day. Such a weird feeling.

Nursery: Baby G is one loved little lady, she now has some additional outfits, a pink tutu, a soft snuggly (handmade) blanket, a changing table, 2 pair of shoes, 2 bottles, baby monitor, some picture frames, Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal and a basket of books!

Wedding rings on or off: On

Mood: Pretty good this week, my emotions are up and down at times but that is expected with pregnancy.

With love,

Mrs. G

Gender Reveal Party!

Our 20 week anatomy ultrasound was Friday 02/21 and we planned our gender reveal party for Sunday 02/23.  We took a little bit of a risk as there is no guarantee that the baby will cooperate but thankfully Baby G cooperated.  The invitations went out about 3 weeks prior and I love how they turned out, please excuse Donald Duck...I had to block out the address.

When our appointment started, the ultrasound tech asked us if we wanted to know the gender, we told her yes but we wanted it either in an envelope or if possible an email sent to the cake maker.
Our ultrasound tech was so sweet and due to the snowstorm she emailed our cake maker so we didn't have to drive anywhere to deliver it.  She really went above and beyond for us, at our next appointment we are going to bring her a little thank you gift.

During the appointment she took a peak at the gender without us even knowing and she didn't say a word, I was so surprised when I got a text from the cake maker saying she received the email.

The person who made the cake is a friend of mine, A has been my friend for 30 years and we were bridesmaids in each others weddings.  It meant so much to me to have her be the first person to know and to make the cake.  I sent her some pictures via pinterest, I really wanted a cake with white frosting and pink & blue polka dots...it turned out perfectly!

A was able to keep the secret for 2 days, both my mom and younger sister harassed her a little for the goods and she didn't even flinch!

The party was to start at 3pm so we served light snacks and refreshments, it was much easer on me.  I ordered most of the decorations from birthdaydirect.com and the prices were extremely reasonable and I loved that they had a gender reveal section.  We had adorable pink & blue plates, napkins and cups along with a pink and blue table cloth.
On Saturday afternoon Mr. G and I ordered balloons for the party, we chose a pink "it's a girl" giraffe and a blue "it's a boy" giraffe.  They were adorable, we spent too much on balloons but oh well...it's our first baby:)

I put together a poster board with some of the gender predicting "Old Wives Tales" and here are the predictions I included:

Heartbeat above 140 bpm = Girl
Morning Sickness (no) = Boy
Chinese Gender Predictor = Girl
More Headaches (yes) = Boy
Parent.com Gender Predictor = Girl
Dry Skin = Boy
Acne (yes) = Girl
Clumsy (yes) = Boy

We served vegetables & pretzels with hummus, a cheese & meat plate, guacamole & salsa with chips and a fresh fruit tray.

For drinks we served baby blue punch and baby pink punch (Non-alcoholic) as well as rose champagne (pink) and brut champagne with a little blue curacao to make it blue.  Sorry about the quality of this picture, our buffet was hard to photograph because of the sun.

All of our family and friends arrived by 3:20pm (yes we had some stragglers, which was frustrating).  We had all of them choose their guess of Baby G's gender by wearing a blue or pink ribbon pin.

By 3:30pm Mr. G and I could not wait a minute longer.  We had both gone back and forth thinking it was a boy and then a girl and then a boy...so we really had no idea nor any "gut instincts".

We gathered everyone around the table and cut into the cake!!!

So without further ado...Baby G is a...

GIRL!!!!!!

As you can see by the first reaction picture, it was an emotional and surprising moment.  I cried...okay okay I sobbed and Mr. G was very excited!  We are thrilled that our baby girl is growing on schedule and is looking healthy!  Both families are very excited to be adding a little lady to the fam.

We could not have asked for a better day, celebrating with our families and special friends was incredible.  I am so thankful to have our families close.

20 week bumpdate will be posted soon....so much to post this week!

With love,

Mrs. G
